Our services

Our company was founded in 2018 by specialists from the St. Petersburg Institute of Genetics at the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences.

BioChem LLC has a unique technological line for the production of bacterial genetically engineered drugs. The CRISPR enzymes developed by us, as well as a complete set of tools for gene editing (software, tools and reagents), significantly increase the speed and efficiency of gene editing. We also pay a lot of attention to editing accuracy. We use the adeno-associated virus (AAV) and mRNA to edit the bacterial genome, and we continue not only to improve these techniques, but also to develop new ones.

Thanks to the microbiological and biotechnological methods developed and used by us, our specialists in a relatively short time are able to obtain the necessary components for the construction of biological preparations for various purposes with desired properties.

Bacteria for the production of interferon

Interferons are first synthesized in the cell as precursors containing a signal peptide at the N-terminus of the polypeptide chain, which is then cleaved and, as a result, a mature interferon is formed that has full biological activity.

Bacteria for somatropin production

Human growth hormone (somatotropin) was obtained from human pituitary, each pituitary gland contains no more than 4 mg. At the same time, it takes about 7 mg of somatotropin per week to treat one child suffering from dwarfism; the treatment should last for several years. With the use of the E. coli genetically inhibited strain, up to 100 mg of growth hormone per liter of culture medium is currently being obtained.

Insulin Production Bacteria

The genetic modification in this case is that the human protein (insulin) gene is introduced into the cell. This technology makes it possible to isolate proteins not from donor blood, but from GM organisms, which reduces the risk of infection of drugs and increases the purity of the isolated proteins.

Bacteria to protect the environment

A significant role in environmental protection can be played by genetically modified microorganisms involved in the treatment of wastewater, waste and industrial wastes. And the creation of new forms of actinomycetes can be the key to the restoration of waste lands, which remain after the development of mineral resources.
